بورغواطة هي إمارة أمازيغية نشأت في القرون الوسطى على
الساحل الأطلسي للمغرب، وضمت الإمارة إتحادا من مجموعة من قبائل مصمودة. بعد فشل
التحالف مع مُتمردي الخوارج الصفريين في المغرب ضد العباسيين، أقاموا مملكة لهم
(744 - 1058) في منطقة تامسنا على الساحل الأطلسي بين آسفي وسلا بقيادة طريف
المطغري.

Barghawata fue un antiguo emirato bereber que fue fundado en el año 744 d. C. en la región de Tamesna (Marruecos)
por un judío, decía ser un profeta, e inició de una religión que fue
seguida por los barghwatíes, los cuales fueron acusados de herejía por
las otras dinastías vecinas. El emirato tuvo que resistir los ataques de
idrisíes, fatimíes, ziríes y almorávides pero sucumbió ante los ejércitos almohades de Abdelmumín en el año 1149.

The
Barghawata (also
Barghwata or
Berghouata) were a confederation of Berber tribes of the Atlantic coast of Morocco, belonging to the Masmuda group of tribes. After allying with the Sufri Kharijite rebellion in Morocco against the Umayyads, they established an independent state (CE 744 - 1058) in the area of Tamesna on the Atlantic coast between Safi and Salé under the leadership of Tarif al-Matghari.
